September 11 Anniversary

Today is the 7th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of the World Trade Center in New York City. Today is the day that as Americans we stand together and mourn the loss we endured. It was a tragic day for our country. I remember exactly what I was doing on that day. I was at work. I was working as a billing clerk at a doctors office. I was upstairs going through patient files to bill their insurance and I had the radio on. I heard Dan Rather's voice come on and say that a plane had hit the first tower. I paused to listen for a moment. My only thought was "how sad for all of those families" and I went back to work. It wasn't until a few minutes later when the second plane hit and then the third plane went down at the Pentagon that the true reality had set in on what had just happened. Our entire office was stunned. None of us could believe what had happened. I remember my boss was in tears because her husband was on his way home from a trip to NYC and she was terrified that he may have been on one of those planes. Thankfully he wasn't. He was, however, boarding his flight which was immediately grounded - as were all flights that day. Gas prices immediately shot up. Chaos was everywhere. Nobody knew what was going on or what to expect. I was a single mom with two little kids at home - I was terrified. Of course that's exactly what they wanted - the terrorists. They want us to be scared of them. I don't understand it. I probably never will. I do know that I will be giving each of my kids one more hug before I put them to bed tonight. Below are a few pictures I found on MSNBC from the ceremony that was held this morning in NYC at the WTC site.

September layouts!

I received Jen's layouts for the September kit this morning! They are just as amazing as I expected! I know the color scheme for this kit may seem a little unusual at first, but you can crank out some really cool layouts with it! It works well for both boys and girls, adults and children, holidays or everyday memories. I have received Juliann's layouts but for some reason I've lost them in cyber never-never land. As soon as I get them back from her I'll post them. If you want one of these kits RUN don't walk over to http://www.queenscraps.com/ because there are only 3 left!

Jen has also created some fun party favors with her scraps from the kit. Here's the finished product, full directions will be in the newsletter! If you'd like to receive the newsletter, please email me at sharon@queenscraps.com. Or you may download the newsletters directly from the website on the 15th when they go up.

I know I'm late - I'm sorry! School started last Monday so I've been trying to get back into the swing of things. This morning I just decided I need to sit down and pay some attention to the blog and website. So, here is the September kit! I've also got lots of layouts from Jen and Juliann this month to go along with it. I'll post those over the next few days for you all to see.

Now shipping internationally!

Yes - that's right! Having a Design Team member from Malaysia has brought more international interest to Queen Scraps. Therefore, I have decided to expand to the international market. The website shopping cart has been set to give accurate shipping costs to our international buyers. I have not had time to update the FAQ section yet though.
Costs for certain countries are as follows:
Canada/Mexico - $23
France - $30
England - $30
Obviously I can't guess where each customer will come frome, so if you don't fall into any of these categories, you will receive an invoice through PayPal with additional shipping costs. Additionally, if you are overcharged for shipping that overage will be refunded to you when I ship your package. All international shipments will be made by USPS Priority Mail International which takes 6-10 days to arrives.
I'll be posting our September kits tomorrow!
